A standing question that keeps a belief connected to possible revision rather than identity or authority.
A position that cannot name any possible counterevidence may no longer be a position about the world. It may have become an identity, loyalty, or protected story.
The answer does not have to be one decisive fact. It may be a pattern of outcomes, a changed condition, testimony from affected people, or the discovery that an assumption was never justified.
